Westchester Magazine’s 25 Most Intriguing People: Georgina Bloomberg

She could have been just another spoiled rich kid, spending her father’s money and partying every night until dawn. But Georgina Bloomberg wanted — and has achieved — so much more. As an equestrian (one of the top-rated in the US), animal-rights activist, and young-adult author, the 33-year-old heir shares with her billionaire dad, media mogul and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a relentless drive to succeed. It’s a trait that’s served her well. “I am insanely stubborn and refuse to give up, even when I have bad shows or times in my career,” she says. Her tenacity was apparent from childhood. “I was never a good rider as a child and had to figure out how to see distances to jumps and be a winner despite it,” she says. “I had many moments when I thought about quitting, but I learned that nothing great in life comes easily.”

It is with this same unwavering drive that Bloomberg attacks her passion for animal rights. “I am proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish, but I also know how much more I have to do as far as getting rid of puppy mills, making people realize the importance of adoption, and making spay/neuter mandatory and affordable.”
